Marcus Reese

LSU NSBE Fundraising Chair 2024-2025

AWS Security Engineer Intern

As an out-of-state student, NSBE has become my second family on campus. Coming to LSU from Georgia, I had to adjust to a new environment, meet new people, and find where I belonged. NSBE gave me a community of students who not only shared similar goals in STEM, but also supported, encouraged, and pushed me to grow. Through NSBE, I found mentorship, friendship, leadership opportunities, and a space where I could be myself while striving for excellence. Serving as the 2024–2025 Fundraising Chair has helped me build confidence, strengthen my communication and leadership skills, and give back to an organization that has poured so much into me. NSBE means community, representation, growth, and family, and it has played a major role in making LSU feel like home.

LSU NSBE Membership Chair 2026-2027

Research & Development Engineer

NSBE has truly shaped my college experience and helped me grow as both an engineer and a leader. Through this organization, I’ve built lifelong friendships, developed professionally, and gained opportunities that led to NASA research and an R&D engineering internship with Procter & Gamble. From volunteering with Math Mondays to now serving as Membership Chair, NSBE has given me the opportunity to give back while helping create a welcoming and supportive community for others. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities, support, and lifelong impact NSBE has had on my journey.

LSU NSBE Fundraising Chair 2022-2023

Shell Production Engineer

Through NSBE, I built meaningful relationships, found mentorship, and gained access to life-changing professional opportunities. Attending NSBE conferences allowed me to network with industry leaders, land interviews, and ultimately receive job offers. It was during one of our local professional nights that I met my current boss—an encounter that led me to a job I love, surrounded by professionals who look like me and inspire me daily. Now, as a working professional, I’m committed to giving back to the organization that gave so much to me.
